From Examiner.com:

Considering a wedding that is out of this world? Consider a Star Trek wedding theme!
Comic Con
Brad Siegel, 53, and Kate Erwin, 34, are doing it! The couple won a contest and will be married on a mock-up of the Starship Enterprise 1701-D bridge, which is part of a traveling Star Trek exhibit at the Franklin Institute of Philadelphia. What better way to celebrate their love for each other and their love for the Star Trek series?

The couple met three years ago at a Star Trek convention. Although their common interests in Star Trek are generations apart, Siegal being a Star Trek original fan while Erwin is more of a Star Trek the Next Generation fan, they still managed to find enough common perspectives on life to stick together.

Siegel proposed to Erwin during an Star Trek convention in Secaucus in March of 2009. He planned it so that they would both be on stage to receive “prizes” and he could propose to her in front of hundreds of people and fellow fans.

The Franklin Institute contest encouraged entrants to display and combination of romance and geekiness; Seigal and Erwin were totally game for it and how could they not be? Their relationship was founded on Star Trek love!
What could be more romantic and geeky than Siegal asking Erwin if she would “…be [his] wife … [his] imzadi?” Imzadi is term of endearment from the Star Trek Next Generation’s fictional language of Betazoid. Entering the Franklin Institute competition was easy, the couple simply explained how Star Trek and their frequent Star Trek convention visits have helped to weave their own special kind of romance.

The contest was narrowed down to three couples chosen by a panel of judges, including George Takei, who played Sulu on the original Star Trek series. Siegal and Erwin were chosen as the winners after a public vote.

The Franklin Institute will provide a Star Trek themed wedding cake, champagne, and space for the reception. Siegal and Erwin are planning yummy treats for their guests including Klingon qagh, a Star Trek dish of serpent worms that is best served while they are alive, but will likely be substituted with noodles colored red and black with food coloring, as serpent worms are out of season.

They anticipate that their wedding guests will come donned in various Star Trek ensembles to make this wedding totally out of this world!

New Trend: Mengagement Rings

Posted by: | Comments (0)

From Telegraph.co.uk:

Is nothing female sacred? Modern men may exfoliate, moisturise and wax; they may wear ‘manbags’ and ‘mandals’; and now, it seems, they are stretching their sticky little fingers towards that shiniest of feminine symbols: the engagement ring.

Seems like diamonds are no longer just a girl’s best friend!

Hilarious Wedding March

Posted by: | Comments (0)

This is one of the funnier wedding entrances I’ve ever seen.   It’s especially ironic that they’re dancing to Chris Brown’s Forever, since he just apologized publicly for physically abusing his girlfriend, pop-star Rihanna.  Doesn’t exactly conjure up visions of a romantic white wedding.

Top Ten Celebrity Proposals

Posted by: | Comments (1)

From The Hollywood News:

From Ben Stiller and Christine Taylor to Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown, The Hollywood News details the ten best celebrity wedding proposals.

My personal favorite?  Seal and Heidi Klum:

Seal pulled out all the stops for his extraordinary proposal to Heidi Klum. The singer whisked his supermodel girlfriend off in a helicopter and, while most of us would probably be chuffed with just that, he didn’t stop there. He flew Heidi to the top of a 14,000 ft glacier where he had arranged for a specially-made igloo to be built. Inside was a bed covered in rose petals, dozens of candles and plenty of food and Champagne for them to celebrate with. Heidi later described it as a ‘once-in-a-lifetime event’!

From Wired:

The main convict connected to the “Biggest Diamond Heist” in history was recently caught with 2.2 pounds of rough uncut diamonds in his car.  The theif, Leonardo Notarbartolo, has already served out his prison sentence for the crime, but the loot still has never been discovered.  Ntoarbartolo claims that he purchased these diamonds legally, and that there is no connection to the original heist.  See the video below.  The story is fascinating.

Yes, that’s right, a man named Kelly Hildebrandt is engaged to be married to a woman named Kelly Hildebrandt.  Kelly-Girl (as she likes to be called in the relationship) one day decided to search on Facebook for those who share her name.  Kelly-boy showed up, she sent him a one-sentence introduction, and the rest is history.  See just how cute they are for yourselves in the video from the Today Show.

Have a look for yourselves.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m all for pulling out your grandmother’s gold teeth while she’s sleeping, but wouldn’t you think they’d try to relate a bit more to their potential clients?  Like, I don’t know, discussing the weak economy?  I mean, most of us didn’t think fast enough before they buried our grandmothers to pull out their gold teeth with garden pliers.

And lets say your fat husband did just croak at breakfast and you are looking to pawn his gaudy gold watch — wouldn’t you be a bit turned off by this ad?
