Q: I’ve been looking over your site for the past few days, and wanted to thank you; it’s an excellent resource.
I’m looking for a diamond, round cut, that will be set in a platinum solitaire setting. My budget for the stone is up to about $3.5k – $4k, and I’m pretty much looking to get the best stone in that budget. So far, I’ve been looking at stones in the G-I color range, VS2/SI1/SI2 and Ideal cuts.
I was looking at some stones on James Allen, and I found the stones below, and was wondering if you could offer some guidance on how you feel they would look set, or if you could offer any better alternatives.

Also, if I did order from James Allen, do you think it’s worthwhile to have them put the stone in a setting, or do you think I’d be better off having it set locally in Chicago?
Thanks in advance
This is a great value buy. Â You can pair this diamond up with a solitaire mounting and come in around $2,000 for everything. Â Its a beautiful cut and will look great in a solitaire mounting.

Q: I’ve found the website most helpful & was hoping to get your opinion on a few diamonds I am considering purchasing for an engagement right.
I have a budget of between 5-7K for the stone, and really want to get the best diamond for my money. Leaning towards buying a round diamond in the J color range between 1.25 – 1.5 Ct size. I’ve looking throught a few online vendors.. blue nile / james allen and found 2 i think are winners.
Here’s the 2 I was looking at, but wouuld appreciate any others you think would fit the mold.
This one I almost purchased yesterday, but had it put on hold while evaulating others.

Q&A: Best Round or Princess Diamond to fit over Diamond Lined Wedding Band
Posted by: DU | Comments (0)Q: Thanks for your informative website, what a great idea!
I am looking for the ’best’ round brilliant or princess diamond in a 5-6K range, not paticular about clarity or colour (maybe, no less than VS2, I) but I’d like at least 1 carat.
I already have a wedding band so I’d like a raised, yellow gold setting to make sure they go togther.
Could I get your opinion on side gemstones. JA has beautiful rings with a round center diamond and square side rubies. I like this idea because it’s something different from the common solitaire, but I wonder if the side stones detract from the center one. What do you think?
Q: I’m in the process of purchasing an engagment ring but I wouldlike some assistance.
I know she wants atleast .80 carrat wieght in a round diamond that will be going in a white gold cathedral mount 4 or 6 prong.
Im a working with a $2500 budget for the whole thing so I need to get the best diamond I can for around $2100. Looking for a diamond with decent color but I would like inclusions to be very minimal to the naked eye.
And the run on VVS2 diamonds oddly continues. Â This is a great value buy. Â Given the current diamond market, it is becoming increasingly difficult to find nice 0.90 carat diamonds under $5,000. Â This diamond is beautifully cut, eye-clean (obviously, given its clarity) and will have great fire and brilliance.
