Archive for $7000 Budget
Q: Wow! Your website is amazing, and it is such a blessing to find. I really respect and appreciate your desire to use your knowledge for the benefit of others.
I am looking for a round brilliant around 1.25ct to 1.50ct. My budget is $6,000 to $7,000 for the center diamond.
I think your advice regarding clarity, color, etc. makes a great deal of sense. I am looking for the best value given my parameters.
I am planning to set it in cushion shaped halo, if that matters.
Thank you so very much for your help with this. It truly is an amazing gift you give people.
Q: I’m looking to buy an engagement ring online and am strongly considering purchasing through either James Allen or Blue Nile (leaning towards JA because of the pictures). I’ve really appreciated reading the advice on your website and was wondering whether you had time to give me some advice (I will make sure to use your referral code if I buy through JA).
I want to buy a princess diamond and my parameters are: square, at least 1.2-1.3 carats (but larger would be great), as good a cut as possible (have been looking mostly at Ideals/Very Good), VS2 or better for clarity, and a color (G or H?) that will look colorless to the untrained eye, but in a platinum setting (thinking about the 2.5mm comfort fit solitaire ring).
Ideally, I’d like to spend less than $7,000-$7,500 on the stone itself (or even less if possible), but can probably be flexible and of course would like to buy something nice. Please let me know if you see anything good.
So far I have liked these diamonds:
(1) 1.23 ct. G http://www.jamesallen.com/diamonds/G-VS1-Ideal-Cut-Princess-Diamond-1278650.asp
(2) 1.52 ct. H http://www.jamesallen.com/diamonds/H-VS2-Premium-Cut-Princess-Diamond-1314101.asp (though am worried about color and cloud in the middle)
Thank you for your time!
Q: Well, it’s been a pretty daunting search so far and I’m happy to have found your site. I was in the diamond district in LA looking at diamonds and decided to hold off on some of their offerings because the prices seemed to be all over the place…amongst other concerns I had regarding quality vs. price.
I’m looking to spend about $7,000 total for a ring and diamond. The ring will be a classic style Tiffany style solitaire in white gold with four corner prongs.
The real challenge for me has been the diamond. I am looking for a princess cut around 1.3-1.5 carats. I prefer VS2 and H color or better but not set on it if it’s a great stone. I really just want a diamond that is clean, bright and durable.
Can you point me to some solid options?
Thank you for any help you can provide.
Q: Hi. Great website! I’m looking for round diamond:
- ’Excellent’ Cut
- ’I’ Color or Better
- ’SI1’ Clarity or Better
- Not much more than $7000
- As big as possible
I’m not exactly clear on Fluorescence. If I’m getting an ’I’ Color Diamond, would it be preferable to get one with ’Medium Blue’ Fluorescence over one with ’Faint’ Fluorescence? Similarly, would it be preferable to get one with ’Faint’ Fluorescence over one with No Fluorescence?
Q: I am searching for a ring imminently and have been reading your site for a few months. Thanks for all the work you’ve done and invaluable information. Based on what I’ve learned from your site, I have been looking at round brilliants in the I – SI1 & SI2 range. I really don’t want to pay for anything that you can’t see with the naked eye. But I would like the nicest combination of brilliance and fire available.
The setting that she has chosen is this: http://design.jared-diamonds.com/item/R999560787107
My total budget is $8,000 to $9,000 so I’m looking to spend somewhere between $6,500 and $7,500 on the stone.
Based on that, this stone would put me at the lower end of my budget:

And this one would be towards the top:

Finally, what about these two?

Overall, I think the 1.40 I-SI1 is my choice right now.
Thanks in advance…
Q: I am looking for a round diamond in the $5500 to $7000 range for this setting:
Based on the recommendations on your site I am looking in the 1.25 carat range with H-I color, excellent cut, and ’eye-clean’ clarity (SI1-VS2). I would also be happy to get faint to medium florescence, but it is not all that important to me. I would really like to know what is the best (biggest) diamond I can get at the top and bottom of my price range.
My main concern is making sure that the diamond is truly eye-clean. Sometimes I can see the flaws in the picture, and other times I cannot. If I can see a flaw, I do not know for sure that it will not be visible without magnification. Here are some that I have found:

http://www.jamesallen.com/diamonds/I-SI1-Ideal-Cut-Round-Diamond-1294959.asp?a_aid=dmnd1357

http://www.jamesallen.com/diamonds/I-SI1-Ideal-Cut-Round-Diamond-1305286.asp?a_aid=dmnd1357
The only other thing I am curious about is whether it is worth it to pay extra for the ’True Hearts’ cut quality. It seems to be significantly more expensive for the same IGA cut grade.
Q: First off and I know you get it a lot but your website is one of the most informative sites on this or any topic that I have seen! As an engineer I love the scientific aspect of diamond shopping. Your site was great in educating me and allowing me to search for the best stones out there. As well as sifting through the BS at the brick and mortar stores!
I am looking for the largest round diamond without sacrificing cut for a budget of 7-8000. I have found this stone on James Allen and thought it was a great deal. What do you think?

I found this stone to be slightly lower then the average price of similar sized stones. Is it because of the I color? Based off of my limited knowledge from your website and looking at a ton of stones on JA I think this is a good bang vs buck stone and should be eye clean? Does the road rash (lack of a better term) near the center concern you? Do you have any alternate suggestions?
Once again I cant complement you enough on putting together such a comprehensive website and I appreciate any feedback you can give me.
Thanks.
