Archive for $3500 Budget

Q: I’ve been looking over your site for the past few days, and wanted to thank you; it’s an excellent resource.

I’m looking for a diamond, round cut, that will be set in a platinum solitaire setting. My budget for the stone is up to about $3.5k – $4k, and I’m pretty much looking to get the best stone in that budget. So far, I’ve been looking at stones in the G-I color range, VS2/SI1/SI2 and Ideal cuts.

I was looking at some stones on James Allen, and I found the stones below, and was wondering if you could offer some guidance on how you feel they would look set, or if you could offer any better alternatives.

Also, if I did order from James Allen, do you think it’s worthwhile to have them put the stone in a setting, or do you think I’d be better off having it set locally in Chicago?

Thanks in advance

Q: I’m in the process of purchasing an engagment ring but I wouldlike some assistance.
I know she wants atleast .80 carrat wieght in a round diamond that will be going in a white gold cathedral mount 4 or 6 prong.
Im a working with a $2500 budget for the whole thing so I need to get the best diamond I can for around $2100. Looking for a diamond with decent color but I would like inclusions to be very minimal to the naked eye.

Q: Would you be able to help me source a stone 0.90 -1.00ct, colour H-K, ideal cut.
I’m helping my sister’s fiance find a stone within a reasonable budget. Maybe 2.5-3.5k. The ring will be custom made with two tones of gold, white and yellow.

I was having a browse in jamesallen and these are the stones I came up with.

I’ve only really looked at K colour. Do you think it’ll be fine? Will it show it much?

Q: Hello – thank you for putting together such a helpful site. I have learned a lot in just about an hour of browsing.

I decided to take you up on your offer of assistance in selecting a diamond. I am budgeting between $3,000 – $3,500 for a round cut diamond. I want something in the neighborhood of .8 – .9 carats that looks amazing to the naked eye. Not having a microscope in the house – I am not too concerned with any well hidden flaws. I won’t select any other characteristics because I have almost no idea what I am talking about other than what I have read on various sites.

Thanks for any suggestions to help me find a great diamond within my budget – or less would be great too.

Q: Let me begin by saying thank you for the informative website you have put together. As a first time buyer of a diamond, I had a lot of questions. The answers to most of my questions were found on your website. It’s hard to find a website this detailed, so again, thank you.

To give some background, I am a Marine stationed in California. I recently returned from Afghanistan and I am ready to propose to my girl friend. It just so happens that before I can propose I need to buy a diamond ring. (I did some probing to see if she would go for a one of a kind mug which said, ”Let’s get married” but she didn’t take to the idea.)

I have already chosen the setting I want to buy. It is the Classic Pear Shaped Diamond Engagement Ring from BlueNile.com: http://www.bluenile.com/diamond-engagement-ring-setting-platinum_4508

Now all that’s left is picking out the diamond. Here’s the problem. I want to be able to see the diamond before purchase, which is why I am hoping to find a diamond on JamesAllen.com instead of BlueNile.com However, without looking at the setting, I don’t know if I can match the color of the solitaire to the pear diamonds in the ring. I am also unsure if I can match the solitaire to the setting’s prongs so a jeweler can set the solitaire in the ring. Is it possible for you (or me if you point me in the right direction) to tell the exact color of diamonds in the setting and if I can buy a 1 carat solitaire to match (which I could then have installed by a local jeweler)?

Also, approximately how much would it cost to have a local jeweler set the diamond in the ring?

Finally, I would like to purchase a 1 carat solitaire for $3500.00 or less, which would match or exceed the color of the setting’s diamonds. I’ve come across two already:

http://www.jamesallen.com/diamonds/H-SI1-Premium-Cut-Princess-Diamond-1334271.asp

Would you evaluate these and give me your advise. Also, if you find a better diamond in the princess cut, I would like to see it. (If you could find a premium round cut for $3500 that was one carat, then I would consider you a diamond guru, but I understand the ”pie” principle.)

Your advice in this matter is greatly appreciated and I look forward to hearing from you.

Q: Ira, I love your site and am so glad that I found it. I have read a lot of the information and checked out the James Allen site. I am comfortable buying a diamond online. I am interested in purchasing an engagement ring and have a budget of $3500 for the diamond. I am interested in the most bang for the buck. Solitaire setting, eye clean with no yellowing visible to the naked eye. Can you provide some guidance?? I would really appreciate it!!
