Today’s diamond is really the perfect example of why I decided to do a daily diamond series of selections of specifically I1 clarity diamonds. Take a look at the zoomed out photo to the left. That picture is still significantly larger than the actual size of the diamond, and it’s still completely clean to the naked eye. Other than the very small black crystal on the top left in the picture, there’s a very faint feather that’s so faint it’ll be completely invisible to the naked eye.

Even though the stone is an I1, it will still be clean to the naked eye. It’s a big advantage that the center of the stone is completely clean. Furthermore you will be able to obscure a good portion of the inclusion with a prong of the setting.

I recognize that the Length/Width ratio on this stone is really pushing the bounds of what is considered square. GIA defines square as having a l/w ratio of 1.00 to 1.05. This stone has a l/w ratio of 1.06. So I would recommend for anyone considering buying this stone to look carefully at the picture above to ascertain for his or herself whether or not the stone looks square to you. If so, then go for it! If it looks off-square to you, then it’s better to pass on it.

We have finally breaches the 1.00 carat wall. There actually were several 1.00+ carat diamonds that I found for $2500, but they all had eye-visible I1 inclusions. Today’s diamond was the largest eye-clean diamond I could find for $2500. Even though today’s diamond is under a full carat, it still has the diameter of a full carat diamond.
