In this section of the site, I try to find the best diamond online according to different themes (Best Princess Cut for $5000, Best Value 1 Carat Round Diamond, etc). To look through recommendations from the past, you can use the tag list on the right to search for specific needs (budget, size, color, clarity, etc).
My selections generally come from Blue Nile and James Allen. I tend to lean towards recommending diamonds from James Allen simply because they are the only ones who offer magnified pictures of most of their diamonds. I can't recommend buying an SI1 clarity or lower without seeing the diamond, as the odds are too great that the diamond will not be eye-clean.

James Allen also has a large variety of engagement rings to choose from to pair with today’s daily diamond selection. The most classic (and most often requested) engagement ring style is the “Tiffany” style solitaire engagement ring. What makes the Tiffany style look unique is the “knife-edge” look around the shank. The shank, instead of being rounded, comes to an edge all the way around. As you can see in the GIA certificate copy, there is a comment that the “crown angles” are higher than 40 degrees. This is more of an old-fashioned look for a cushion cut, giving it more of a “pillowy” feel. The relatively small table and open culet also add to this antiquey look.
