The good folks at have decided to change the coupon code that I offer to my readers.  I have attempted to do a universal “search and replace” to change any and all instances of “IRA10″ on this site to “TADJ10″, but you never know how these things work out! If I have been in touch with you via email and have mentioned the coupon code to you, please note the change!

Now that we wrapped up our daily diamond selection series featuring the best cushion cut diamonds for specific budgets, today we begin a new series.  I’m very excited about this one.

If you’ve ready any of my articles on the site, then you probably already know that I don’t believe there is any inherent value to diamonds as an investment.  A diamond is a retail purchase like any other.  You pay money, and you get a product in return.

Any product you buy has features, and generally, prices go up in accordance with the value of the features.

Diamonds aren’t any different except for one small catch: With other products, you only pay more for features that you will be able to appreciate.  With diamonds, however, you’ll pay more for a flawless diamond than you would a VS2 clarity diamond – even though you’d never be able to tell the difference.

Since I know this to be true, I always tell people who ask me my opinion that they’re better off having me help them find the lowest clarity grade possible that is still clean to the naked eye.  Since this is only possible if I can see the stone, I almost always need to use James Allen’s virtual loupe to accomplish this.

So, without further ado, I present you our newest series – the best diamond for different budgets.  With this series, we bring you the ultimate in value.

Today has announced the launch of a new refresh of their site focused primarily on their imagery.  New 3D static photos have been added in addition to 3D videos.  The level of detail on these photographs is unreal.  See for yourself:

James Allen has just announced a fantastic promotion for holiday shoppers.  Effective immediately, products purchased now through December 15th will have until January 15th, 2010 to return their purchase.  After December 15th, the regular 30-day return policy will return.

So if you were holding back on making a purchase because you wanted the return window to extend into 2010, you can make your purchase now with confidence.

And of course, their ongoing free shipping promotion is still in effect.

The ink is still wet on my latest post.  This one I am particularly proud of.  The post is called the Complete Diamond Stud Earrings Review.  Have you ever noticed that the major online diamond vendors sell their stud earrings uncertified?  How can you, as a consumer, objectively compare products across vendors, if you have no objective 3rd party ruling that the products are really the same?  What if one company’s SI2 are really I1s – maybe that’s why they’re cheaper – not because they’re offering you better value.

This article seeks to answer these questions and more.  I hired a former colleague of mine to buy a pair of studs from the four major online diamond vendors.  He documented every step of the process including Customer Service, Packaging Quality, Diamond Quality, and Ease of Return.  The results of his research are presented here for your benefit.  Enjoy!

(the article is also accessible from the “Truth About…” menu in the menu bar above)

I opened an account with iVouch.com to manage my reviews and have now integrated my page there with the site here.  Go ahead now to view my first success stories!  I want to take this time now to thank these first five people who wrote such lovely things about me and my site.  They truly went above and beyond.

From PRNewswire:

Diamonds On Web -HP-88x31_03

DiamondsOnWeb.com has debuted a new service that they call ‘Don’t Pay Until You See the Diamond at Your Door.’

According to the press release:

The policy applies to certified loose diamonds and engagement rings costing less than $10,000 purchased by U.S. customers. Customers must authorize their credit card prior to shipping, and the card will only be charged upon customer approval. Diamonds on Web also provides free return shipping within 10 days of the delivery date, a 30 day Money Back Guarantee, and lifetime upgrades.

As times got tough, diamond vendors, whether online or bricks and mortar, have done all they can to attract business away from the competition.  Diamonds on Web has been around a long time, and are a very clever company.  They’ve always had a competitive edge as their prices were among the lowest in the industry, but now this initiative definitely sets them apart from the competition.  I, personally, have dealt with their CEO back when I was a salesman for Leo Schachter, and I can vouch both for his skill as a diamond buyer (which means lower prices for you) and his personal integrity.
