Sometimes, you want something very unique. Of course, in regular engagement ring styles, you have varying degrees of uniqueness. a beautiful stone indeed. I saw it is still available (Dec 21, 2011) however at a 25% higher price than half a year ago when you saw it first: it is now listed for ~16500$
So my question to you:
- is this a seasonal price increase (higher demand just before the holidays)?
- did your post point alarm JamesAllen.com that this stone was underpriced and they adjusted the price to reflect more of a fair market value?
- or did something more fundamentally happen since June 2011 that drove diamond prices up in general?

Hi Thomas. Thanks for writing. I can’t say which one of the options it is for sure. It’s most likely due to prices rises heavily over the last year in general in the diamond market. There really aren’t any seasonal price increases (despite what people think) in the diamond market. The other option might be that JA re-assessed their “True Hearts” pricing structure and have decided to increase their margins on their “premier” brand. But I’m honestly not sure.
