Ira, I finally received this diamond after waiting for registered mail after being routed through Massachusetts and…. it’s fantastic! In all honesty my 1st impression was that it’s smaller than I imagined. Go figure ,so it’s a good thing I did not go with a smaller diamond – I was originally shopping for 1 carat.
I spent a while looking at the diamond and I am definitely more pleased with the size now. I spent so much time looking at 20x and other macro shots of various engagement rings all over the internet that everything looks huge online. Really though, its a very good size up against my pinky finger which is a good approximation of my girlfriend’s ring finger. Also once it is set I am pretty sure it will be easier to appreciate its size.
And the good part – I would have never thought it would look this way to the naked eye with such a scary 20x photo. I have young eyes and I cannot see the inclusions from 1 foot. I need to hold it up to light and rotate close to my face in order to see the largest inclusion in the table when it catches light the right way. From the side I can see inclusions. From the top it’s nearly impossible unless it’s lit up well and in my face.
Anyways all I am trying to say is thank you very very much for your help. There is no doubt that I would have spent money on things I didn’t need if not for your recommendation. I got a bigger diamond than I though I could for a low price that will look fantastic in a ring.
