Best Asscher Cut Diamond for $10,000: 1.72 Carat F Color SI2 Clarity Eye-Clean GIA Certified

By

Following yesterday’s best Asscher Cut pick for $11,000, we move along today to our pick for the best Asscher Cut Diamond for $10,000.  I know what you’re thinking: in my article about Asscher Cut Diamonds and Emerald Cut Diamonds, I recommend buying only VS2 clarity or higher clarity grades with Step Cuts.  This SI2 Clarity Grade is two grades lower than VS2, yet its face is still cleaner than most of the VS2s and SI1s I saw on James Allen with their Virtual Loupe.  That makes this stone a unique bargain.

Here’s the Stats (Unfortunately, a copy of the GIA Certificate wasn’t available at press time. You can click here to view some of the certificate details using the GIA’s Report Checker Tool):

    Ira-

do you have any idea why this diamond seems to be so discounted for its color? i know the clarity is low – am i missing something???? the clarity seems to be miss categorized

    • Hi Ryan. It’s cheap only because of its clarity. It’s not hard to believe that the SI2 lies in such a way in this stone that it’s not visible face-up. It happens all the time.

        Ira,

Thanks for your thoughts. I was able to get the GIA report from James Allen. Is there anyway i can get it to you for your review? I just want to make sure the report lines up with your initial thoughts.

How visible do you think the cloud directly to the left of the center is by the naked eye?

        Thanks.
