Best Princess Cut Diamond For $7000: 2.01 Carat H Color I1 Clarity GIA Certified
ByFollowing on the heels of our best princess cut diamond for $8000 pick, today we present you with the best princess cut diamond for $7000. Today’s pick is an interesting one. As I mentioned before in my Truth About Princess Cut Diamonds article, SI2 clarity and I1 clarity princess cuts are quite rare. So when you find one, and it’s a nicely oriented inclusion, it’s a real find. Today’s pick is one such diamond.
Here’s the Stats (or Click Here for Copy of the GIA Certificate):
Carats: 2.01
Measurements: 7.01*6.65*4.84
Length/Width Ratio: 1.05
Depth: 72.8%
Table: 72%
Diamond Polish: Very Good
Diamond Symmetry: Good
Diamond Fluorescence: Faint
Diamond Price: $6,450
With this stone, I’m not 100% comfortable making the claim that this diamond is “eye-clean” like all of my other daily diamond recommendations. But I still endorse buying this diamond since the inclusion is semi translucent and is greatly broken up by the heavy brilliance of the corners. Also, much of this inclusion can be covered by prongs in an engagement ring setting.

Hello,
I am finding your website to be the most comprehensive collection of diamond information around. I am living/working in Afghanistan and do not have the luxury of actually going to a store to select the diamond, so your advice has been instrumental.
Needless to say, I am returning to the states next month and anticipate getting engaged soon thereafter.
I am interested in this diamond as it seems that everything is great except for the feather inclusion in the corner. Would you personally pick this diamond or opt for the I-VS1 you listed as best diamond for 6k?
Thanks in advance for all your assistance!
Hey Scott. Great question. Ask yourself the following questions to help you make the pick:
1) Are you going to have the stone set yourself, or will you buy a setting from James Allen to have it set in? The answer is crucial to your decision. If you are having it set yourself, then go with the I VS1. That inclusion in the corner presents a risk for chipping during the setting into the ring. If you’re buying from James Allen and they’re setting it, so it’s their responsibility during setting. If you have it set, then it’s your responsibility.
2) How sensitive are you to squareness? If you compare the two stones, you’ll see that one has a l/w of 1.05 and the other 1.01. Can you tell the difference in the pictures? Does the 1.05 one look rectangular to you? If so, then it might be better for you to go with the I Vs1 (which is the l/w 1.01 stone)
3) How sharp is your and your fiance’s eye? I actually comment in the bottom of the recommendation for the H I1 that I can’t guarantee that this stone is eye-clean.
Actually, for kicks, I just decided to look at the stone again on James Allen and it looks like it’s been purchased already! So it looks like the decision has been made for you
