Diamond SI2 Clarity

If you’re out there looking for the best diamond for your money, then please contact me, and let me know your budget and what you’re looking for. I’ll sift through hundreds of thousands of diamonds online and help you find the perfect stone for you and your budget. Unlike the other sites, I’m not looking to sell you anything – my advice is objective and in your best interest. You have nothing to lose.
(I would like to thank James Allen for the use of the pictures in this article)
After you’ve had a chance to read my general clarity review and my article Truth About Diamond Clarity, now we can take this opportunity to evaluate the diamond SI2 clarity grade specifically. As mentioned in previous articles, the diamond SI2 clarity grade is very easily noticeable with a 10x loupe, and is sometimes visible to the naked eye. The diamond SI2 clarity grade is distinguished from the diamond SI1 clarity grade simply how much area the inclusion covers. As you can see in the sample pictures included here, there is a very wide range of possible qualities within the diamond SI2 clarity grade.
Diamond SI2 Misconceptions
Many people often make the mistake of not purchasing a Diamond SI2 clarity grade stone because they are afraid that the inclusion (blemish) will be noticeable to the naked eye. If you are buying blindly, without a picture (such as from Blue Nile or other similar online shop), then there is some wisdom to that. The diamond in the picture on the bottom-left will most likely have an eye-visible blemish. But the other two stones will not.
This is one of the reasons why I recommend people buy from James Allen – they offer high quality photos of their inventory with their virtual loupe tool. This allows you to buy a diamond with an SI2 clarity grade with confidence that it will be completely clean to the naked eye. Buying a Diamond SI2 over a Diamond SI1 or even Diamond VS2 will allow you to either save significant money, or buy a larger diamond with the same budget.

Can you please send me images of SI2 GH and SI2 IJ diamonds?? I want to compare the quality and approximate difference in the price..
You can’t really see color from the photos. They are much better for clarity. I suggest looking at http://www.briangavindiamonds.com or http://www.jamesallen.com and look around there at the diamonds.
Hi Ira, I am looking to get a custom made lion pendant made for a necklace and would like a blend of white and black diamonds for the design. I dont know alot about diamonds but would like to get the best value for my money. I would like to spend under 5K preferably for the pendant and chain. I am confused however about where to start with the quality of the diamonds. Please help as I dont want to spend way more than I have to.
I’m not sure how to advise you. You’re talking about a very custom piece. You need to find a jeweler you can trust.
I was looking at some K color SI2 stones at JamesAllen. With a ~10-12K budget. Had been looking at the following 3:

I appreciate any insight you can provide, and any other recommendations you may have.
Thanks for the help.
Hi Paul. They’re all very nice. If JA can confirm that this one is eye clean, then I think it’s your best bet:
